The
Control Room was a lot more intriguing than I thought
it would be. Personally, the idea of
watching a movie about Middle Eastern news isn’t really appealing to me. But I was surprisingly intrigued. To actually hear and see how the Middle
Eastern countries view America first hand was actually a little bit
frightening. To see that there are
places in the world that can pretty much put anything they want on the news
like what Al Jazerra did, is pretty unsettling.
Perhaps the worst part was actually seeing the dead bodies of Middle Eastern
and American soldiers. I don’t believe
that dead bodies of military men and women should be shown to the general
public at all.
The exercise we did in
class was interesting. I never really
saw myself as privileged before that. I
never realized that I was lucky to have two parents who went to college or to
have the opportunity to even drive a car.
I guess when I usually think of what privileged is, I think about it in
relation to my peers, and all the people around me. I never thought about it in relation to other
countries. Countries where people
survive off of not even half of what I have.
It really made me realize how lucky I am.
