The movie Chasing Ice was very informative. For
the most part, I enjoyed what I saw. The idea of global warming was prominent
but was not shoved in my face. The photographs were not only beautiful but
effective in communicating the idea the Balog was trying to get across. The
idea I picked up on was to make a global impact by showing people what was
really happening to glaciers and to convince those people to make a change. The
movie was effective, but I found it to be poorly edited. That is just a personal
pet peeve, though. Overall, the movie was good and I enjoyed it as an introduction
to the course.
I'm interested in your critique. Were some takes just too long for your taste? Or were there jump cuts to scenes that didn't seem to flow with the narrative of the film? Share your knowledge about editing with us! Totally okay to have pet peeves!
