Transgender student forbidden to run for homecoming king

A transgender student in Johnstown, PA  was denied the possibility of running for homecoming king.  I female to male transgender student names Kasey Carson was nominated to the homecoming court, as a king.  He was nominated by his peers but the school would not allow him to run for king.  The school board said that because his birth certificate says that he is a female; he is not allowed to run for king.  They instead placed him on the ballot for homecoming queen.
After Kasey challenged to school’s decision, the issue went on to the school board.  The board decided not to even handle the issue.  They decided just to go with what the school decided because his birth certificate is a legally binding document.

I chose this article because it is very similar to one that I just recently wrote about.  It was about a  male to female transgender girl who was scrutinized after being crowned homecoming queen.  This article shows an opposing viewpoint because here, the school won’t even let Kasey be put on the ballot as a male.  I couldn’t even imagine what would happen i=f he were to win.  I think that the school is wrong in this case.  Kasey identifies as a male student and he should be treated as such.  I believe that what the school is doing is a violation of some type of public school policy in Pennsylvania.
