Aaron Alexis, a name that will not
be forgotten, but remembered in infamy. Alexis was the gunman at the U.S. Navy
Yard shooting in Washington, D.C. this past Friday. He killed 12 civilian
workers at the navy yard and then was killed by officers responding to the
situation. It just came out in the past day that Alexis suffered from mental
illnesses including PTSD, paranoia, sleeplessness, and hallucinations. This
makes me question how this man was able to get into the yard. However, this
question was answered in the article.
Alexis had very high level of
security, so high that it was secret. Now come the questions. Why was this man
on such a high level of security? How was he on such a level? If these
disorders came after the job that he carried out, why was he made to continue
working it? How, with police reports of these disorders causing problems, was
he still allowed to work in this facility? These questions are unanswered and
make me uncomfortable to say the least. A high security government worker
suffering from multiple disorders and illnesses is still able to carry out his
job, but ends up killing 12 people instead. This just makes me question who
else could be high up in ranks that could cause an even bigger problem.
Needless to say, it is disturbing.
