As of this coming Monday, Japan will shut down its final functioning nuclear power plant in Ohi. It is said that the next time Japan will be able to consume power from nuclear plants could be in December, but that is the earliest.
People are working to make the safety standards of these nuclear plants much higher in order to regain public acceptance of these plants. After the Fukushima crisis in 2011, much of the public is leaning away from these sources of energy, but seeing as before Fukushima thirty percent of their energy was coming from nuclear power plants, it is necessary to start up some of the plants again somewhere in the near future.
Power companies are looking to start up around a dozen of these power plants, but public acceptance must be the first step.
