Tess Hayward:Not Your Average Pregnancy Scare

Usually when we see a pregnant women, we expect there to be a baby in her stomach, right? That was not the case in this Columbian airport. Canadian woman Tabitha Ritchie was stopped before she was able to board a plane to Toronto. Tabitha stated she had been pregnant for 7 months when the officer noticed her stomach felt cold. Not only was Ritchie wearing a fake belly, it was also full of 2kg of cocaine! There is a possibility that Ritchie can face up to 8 years in jail. She has not been the only person to try and smuggle drugs in airport terminals in Columbia.

I give her a thumbs up on the creativity aspect.......but how the hell would this every work?! Airports have become extremely strict with things you can carry onto a plane, let alone a pregnant belly full of cocaine! Although I'm sure she will be spending the next couple years in a jail cell, she at least has a good story to go with it!

  1. This story is very interesting. I totally agree that there is no way she would be able to get by since airports have become extremely strict. It is crazy some of the stuff people will do for drugs! Simply insane!

  2. Have you seen the film Maria Full of Grace? Really excellent. Your news story reminds me of it. You might investigate whether Columbia covers this story differently than the U.S.

  3. This story is so crazy! I don't understand how someone would think they could get away with that, especially through all of these strict rules with getting on a plane, like you said. It is pretty amusing that someone would go that far to try to smuggle drugs!
