Wildfire Poem- Sarah Donley

Smoke billows through the green clouds,
The embers glow in the wake of the waves of flames.
There is a lack of life and an overwhelming smell of ash.
It would make any soul cry.

When it happens, all you hear is the crackling of the fire
And the crashing of fallen trees and branches.
You hear birds and animals fleeing

Wildfires destroy homes, environments, ecosystems
They kill creatures, some before their lives even begin.
What can be done to prevent tho from happening?

How do we preserve our forests?
For one thing we can stop using cars
Just to get somewhere that's only a ten minutes walk away.

  1. GoldenRamGirl: I love the line: "There is a lack of life and an overwhelming smell of ash." I like it because the "lack" and the "ash" make a slant rhyme--that's a rhyme that's almost a rhyme, but not quite. They're alliterative. They are also onomatopoeic: they sound like fire.
    Awesome.
