Pope's Opinion on Abortion

Pope Francis is not exactly popular among many people today, September 20, 2013. Today he was said to "blast abortion" making comments about how bad abortion is and how lives should be continuously brought into the world. He makes comments about unborn babies having "the face of the lord." He also goes on to say how doctors are often put in a very difficult position because they are forced to keep new lives from coming into the world.
This strong opinion from Pope Francis is really making him an infamous character in today's society. Many people believe he is shying away from church rules and behavior and speaking in more of a political way. I myself do not believe that abortion is really something that the Pope should be preaching about. I don't think his personal opinion should have been shared because whatever the opinion is, there will always be hatred toward it from some group of people. I think that abortion is definitely a necessary topic of discussion but not from a religious stand point. I think now the Pope has gotten himself into a bit of a predicament. I hope Catholics will remain open-minded and not turn away from the Catholic Church because of the Pope's strong, opinionated message.
I find this article today on a worldly source, newsday.com, a site that I have found to be reliable. It always has very new, reliable and concerning news and information on it.

  1. I have to agree with you on this post. I think religion should be left out of the subject of abortion, but it is also a topic to be discussed. I thought this was a really informative article, especially because I haven't heard about it.

  2. I agree, I think that even though abortion is a very controversial issue that needs to be discussed, the pope should not have given such a strong opinion on it. Hopefully people don't change their opinions just because the pope stated his and hopefully others won't look down on the catholic church because of one opinion.

  3. Really fascinating opinion, Allie. The fact that two people have commented on your post makes me think that this is a LIVE issue right now. Did you see the anti-abortion protesters on the campus green the other day?
