Response to "The Control Room"

After viewing the video "The Control Room", I became more aware of just how biased the news can be. The news that was shown in Al Jazeera was incredibly one sided, and made Americans look like the bad guys. They showed images of wounded women and children that were hit by the bomb, just to make the United States look bad. In the film, they said the wounded children were actors, and not actually hurt. That to me is just an example of the level that these news station will steep to in order to try to brainwash the public. I also just thought it was interesting when the guy said that America can crush us as long as they do not make us love it. The American news during the war was defintley biased as well. I remember hearing a lot about how many US soldiers died that week. If I recall correctly, they did not give too much information about how many people they killed each week. This film was proof that with pretty much any news station, they take a stance on something. For example, Fox News has often come under fire for being biased towards the Republican party, and taking Republican stances on issues. To me, that is not what a news station should be. A news station should be a source that gives the truth, without having too much of an opinion.
