Lexie Way- Dog Fighting

One of the largest dog fighting rings was taken over by authorities the other day, where they rescued 371 dogs. Most of the puppies that were found weighed less than five pounds, and were left in the scorching sun while wearing heavy chains around their necks. Authorities found these dogs in the rings in Alabama, Texas, Georgia and Mississippi. The dogs were immediately placed into temporary care at the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States. Not only are the dogs being given important medical treatment, but they are getting a behavior modification that will make their chances of being a household pet greater. According to authorities, the goal is to turn these aggressive dogs into loving pets that will be given the care and treatment needed. Many of the dogs that were brought into ASPCA had major scars and injuries, such as deep cuts and large tumors. However, since arriving to the shelter, most of the dogs have been improving with the medicine helping ease the pain and remove the fleas.

I chose this article because I am interested in animals and helping them get a better environment. It’s crazy how far people will go to make extra money. It is an informative and powerful article that shows the dangers that humans can put animals through.
